During the night of 4 to 5 July 2025, torrential rains swept across the southern U.S. state of Texas, triggering deadly floods.

Local authorities reported that almost 300 millimetres/hour of sudden rainfall caused the Guadalupe River, which flows through the region, to rise by around 8 metres in just 45 minutes.

At least 100 people have lost their lives as a result of the disaster, a death toll that could rise even higher as 41 people are still missing.

Kerr County suffered the most severe impact, accounting for 68 fatalities, including 28 children.

Among the 750 participants in a summer camp for girls on the banks of the Guadalupe River, ten children are still missing.
