Munich Re completes acquisition of Next Insurance

Initially announced in March 2025, Munich Re has completed its acquisition of U.S.-based insurtech Next Insurance, following approval from the relevant regulatory authorities.

Next Insurance will now operate under the management structure of ERGO, Munich Re’s direct insurance subsidiary.

The acquisition marks ERGO’s entry into the U.S. small and medium-sized business (SMB) insurance market.

As a reminder, Munich Re and Next Insurance signed a definitive agreement on 20 March 2025, valuing 100% of Next Insurance shares at 2.6 billion USD.
