Peak Re expands into India

Peak Re has established a reinsurance branch at the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City International Financial Services Centre (GIFT IFSC).

The Hong Kong reinsurer was granted approval by the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) to conduct reinsurance business in India on 20 February 2025.

The new structure, the IFSC Insurance Office (IIO), is now authorized to underwrite non-life (P&C), life and health reinsurance business.

Peak Re's branch is classified as a category 2 reinsurer under the “Order of Preference” regulations in force in India. The new entity is led by Sudhir Salian, Managing Director and Head of India at Peak Re.
