For several days now, a severe storm has been raging across the eastern United States, triggering violent winds and torrential rains that have led to flooding.
The death toll as at 17 February 2025 stood at 14, including 12 in the State of Kentucky.
Several people were reported missing, and more than 50 000 homes were left with no electricity in the States of West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Maryland.
Meteorologists expect the situation to be compounded by a record cold snap, with temperatures estimated at -51°C.
